OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. No payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. You are not a winner yet. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. The sponsors of the sweepstakes are Rodale Inc., 33 East Minor Street, Emmaus, PA 18098-0099 (“Rodale”), and Mountain HardWear, 4911 Central Avenue, Richmond, CA 94804 (the “Sponsor”). To enter, log on to www.backpacker.com/dream and fully complete and submit the registration form as instructed. Internet access is required to enter this sweepstakes.

Sweepstakes begins on January 15, 2007 at 12:01 am Eastern Time (ET) and entries must be received by 11:59 pm ET on April 30, 2007, to be eligible to win. One entry per e-mail address/person per day. Only entries submitted electronically to the Web site in accordance with these rules will be eligible for consideration. The entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of the entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Entries that are mechanically reproduced, contain inaccurate information, do not fully comply with these rules or that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged or otherwise not received by Rodale and/or the Sponsor, in whole or in part, due to computer, human or technical error of any kind are not eligible.

From all eligible entries received, Rodale will randomly select the winner on or about May 7, 2007. Winner will be notified by e-mail on or about May 14, 2007.Winner must reply with all contact information requested in the notification within five (5) days from the date notification e-mail was sent, or another winner may be selected. Rodale will then mail to the potential winner by postal mail at the mailing address on the entry form an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability and Publicity Release, unless prohibited by law. Winner will be obligated to sign and return the Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability and Publicity Release, unless prohibited by law, within 14 days of postal mail notification. In the event of noncompliance with this time period, if the potential winner cannot be reached at the address on his or her entry form, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable for whatever reason, that prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected. Winner selection is under the supervision of Rodale, whose decisions are binding and final in all respects. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Rodale and the Sponsor.

Sweepstakes open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older or the age of majority in his/her state of residence. Employees of Rodale, the Sponsor, and members of their immediate families and household members are not eligible to enter or win this Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes subject to all federal, state and local laws and is void wherever prohibited by law.

Any prize or prize notification returned to Rodale as undeliverable may result in the awarding of that prize to an alternate winner in a separate random drawing. By acceptance of a prize, winners and travel companions consent to the use of their names, photographs or other likenesses, testimonials and other biographical information for any and all purposes, including, but not limited to, advertising, trade and/or promotion on behalf of Rodale and/or the Sponsor, without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants will be sharing their personal information with Rodale. Personal information collected by Rodale will be used for administration of the Sweepstakes. In addition, by entering, entrants agree to Rodale’s use of entrant’s personal information as described in its privacy policy at http://www.rodale.com/corp/sub/1.1874.1-28.00.html. Please refer to Rodale’s privacy policy for important information regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by Rodale. Rodale is not responsible for disclosures made by the Sponsor or any third party. Rodale uses reasonable commercial efforts to comply with Federal CAN–SPAM law and entrants may subsequently opt-out of receiving further e-mails by following opt-out instructions contained in Rodale’s privacy policy. All entries become property of Rodale and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Consumer Disclosure
The approximate retail value of the prize is $2851.00 and consists of the following:

The prize will be awarded to one (1) winner. All other expenses not specifically listed herein are the winner's responsibility including, but not limited to, sales taxes. All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winner will be sent an IRS Federal 1099-MISC tax form for the retail value of any prize at or above $600. No transfer or substitution of prize[s] except at Rodale’s and or the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Prize values are in U.S. currency. Substitution of a prize of equal or greater value (or a cash equivalent) will be awarded in case of prize unavailability. All prizes will be awarded within 1 year of receipt of valid and executed winners’ affidavit or prize confirmation. However, any portion of the prize not accepted by the winner will be forfeited.

Rodale, the Sponsor, and their parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies, shall not have any obligation or responsibility with regard to (i) entries that contain inaccurate information or do not comply with these rules, (ii) entries, prize claims or notifications that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged or otherwise not received by the intended recipient, in whole or in part, due to computer or technical error of any kind, (iii) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties, (iv) any inability of the winner to accept the prize for any reason; (v) if a prize cannot be awarded due to travel cancellation, delays or interruptions due to Acts of God, natural disasters, terrorism or weather; or (vi) any damages or losses of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from awarding, acceptance, possession use, misuse, loss or misdirection of any prize or resulting from participating in this promotion or any promotion or prize related activities. Rodale and the Sponsor, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of this promotion or otherwise violating these rules. Rodale, the Sponsor and their respective officers, directors, employees, subsidiaries and affiliates assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to entrants or to any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from entering or downloading materials or software in connection with this Sweepstakes. If Rodale or the Sponsor determines, in their respective discretion, that technical difficulties or unforeseen events outside their control compromise the integrity or viability of the promotion, Rodale or the Sponsor reserve the right to void the entries at issue, modify the promotion and/or terminate the relevant portion of the promotion, including the entire promotion. Entrants assume all liability for any injury or damages caused or claimed to be caused by their participation in the Sweepstakes and/or the acceptance and/or use of any prize, and entrants hereby release Rodale, the Sponsor and their respective officers, directors, and employees, from any such liability or claim including without limitation, claims and causes of action for invasion of privacy, defamation, personal injury (including emotional distress), or any other claim or cause of action arising out of entrants’ participation in this promotion whatsoever or acceptance and use of the prize, regardless of the cause.

Rodale and the Sponsor are not liable for payment of any prize to entrants who have violated these official rules. Void where prohibited by law.
