What made you decide to do something about your weight? What was your turning point?

I was about 6 months from graduating from pharmacy school. I thought that I should get myself into shape if I was going to be talking to others about health issues. Also, I had began to experience extreme pain and swelling in the joints of my knees and ankles.

What was really special or unique about the Curves program? Why do you think it worked when others did not?

The Curves exercise and 6 Week solution program was not very challenging. I did not feel like I was on a "diet." I made a positive lifestyle change instead. The people at Curves also served as motivators for me. Every milestone was celebrated, and I was motivated to keep pushing.

How has eating the Curves way helped you change your lifestyle and lose weight? What do you like about it?

I make better choices when it comes to eating. I like it because I have not really had to sacrifice any foods that I really like. I learned how to choose what is better for me like buying leaner meats, eating light yogurt, etc.

What were some of the challenges in losing weight and how did you meet them?

The biggest challenge was making time during the day to eat smaller more frequent meals. Also, I had a hard time thinking ahead to plan meals instead of preparing them spontaneously. I set aside time at night to prepare lunch and plan for dinner each night just before I go to bed. At work I use short breaks to eat snacks or I have learned to multi-task (like, work and snack at the same time).

What’s the difference in how you used to feel at your old weight, and how you feel now? What do you love about your lighter self?

I feel so much more confident in my new body. I have not had any severe joint pain and swelling since the weight loss began. I am also motivated to continue losing weight so that I can be healthier than I am now.
